COACHING AND MENTORING
MTO Forestry has been on a journey to be future fit as an organsation. This we have done through the progression of talent and the need to be intentional about managing our talent through directed initiatives.
What is Mentoring?
Mentoring is the exchange of information between two parties where one person who has real-world experience is sharing it with the other person. A mentor acts as a guide and facilitates learning moments in the conversation.
The mentor-mentee relationship requires a high level of trust, honesty, respect and commitment with the intention of creating an experience through which the mentee is exposed to a variety of learning opportunities as well as self-reflection and different approaches to various situations.
Mentorship Program for 2023 will commence in August 2023.

MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
What are the objectives of management development program?
The objectives of management development include enhancing managerial skills and competencies, fostering leadership qualities, improving decision-making abilities, promoting effective communication and interpersonal skills, and developing a strategic mindset.
Through this personalised management development plan, employees may gain important skills in performance management, conflict management, recruitment and resourcing, employee engagement, the performance appraisal process and how to have challenging conversations.
We normally offer this as part of employees Individual Personal Development plan (IDP) in line with our succession plan program.
WORK EXPERIENCE/INTERNSHIPS
MTO Forestry a has structured internship and co-op programs for students in a range of disciplines — from finance and marketing to engineering and forestry operations.
Only graduate learners (learners who have COMPLETED any recognized qualification, degree, diploma, NCV programme etc.) can be recruited for Work Experience
Learners must complete a structured work experiential learning programme that lead to employment and must be SETA / Industry recognized
APPRENTENTICESHIPS
Apprenticeship Programme must fall within the scope of the sectoral trades or engineering and priority tradesas per the Scarce and Critical Skills of the FP&M SETA and the Company.
The Apprenticeship Programme must be registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training - QCTO / NAMB.
Workplaces must have workplace approval / license status with the relevant SETA QA Section 28 learners,
MUST have a minimum of FOUR year work experience and have specific trade theory at least at second year level.
WORK INTEGRATED LEARNING PROGRAM (WIL PROGRAM)
MTO Forestry is accredited with the FP&M SETA and provide a number of opportunities in line with the SETA’s requirements.
Work Experience, Work Integrated Learning or In-Service Training refers to the period required by certain qualifications for students to obtain formal work experience.
This period is formally monitored by the institution and assessed on completion.
The qualification cannot be obtained without the completion of this prescribed programme.
MTO Forestry places ‘Workplace Experience students’ or ‘interns’ on fixed term contracts to gain practical experience and complete their qualification.
Successful candidates, selected for the workplace experience programme would have a sound academic record at an accredited institution and require an in-service training period to complete their qualification.
