Delivering High-Quality Timber Through Sustainable Forestry
At MTO, our basket of high-quality pine timber products are the result of a carefully managed value chain — from seed selection to final delivery. Each stage is guided by principles of sustainable forestry, science, and precision to ensure our customers receive timber of the highest quality.

Seedling Research & Breeding
Our research is scientifically driven, focusing on tree breeding strategies that meet both current and future market demands. We produce our seedlings from seed sourced in our seed orchards, featuring superior trees selected through our tree breeding program.
Each seed is planted and nurtured under expert supervision and optimal conditions to produce seedlings of exceptional quality. These are then supplied for replanting in our plantation forests.
We maintain complete control of our value chain — and it all starts here.
Selecting the Best Trees for Pine Timber Products
For our process of producing pine timber products, we look for trees that are straight, fast-growing, pest- and disease-tolerant, and have excellent wood qualities.
Our skilled research team identifies these top performers during tree breeding trials, gathering material for the next breeding cycle and seed orchards. The best trees are replanted in orchards where we harvest their seed, which is then provided to our nurseries to grow into high-quality seedlings.
Before breeding for any commercial product, we start by understanding market needs — and respond with the best trees for the best wood quality.
Sustainable Plantation Management
Our value chain continues from seedling production into our plantations, where pine and eucalyptus trees are nurtured by expert hands and guided by sustainable practices.
We don’t just grow trees — we protect the land around them, conserving the environment and upholding our commitment to responsible forestry. Our plantations are accredited by an international forestry regulatory body, giving our customers confidence that our timber is grown with integrity and care.
When our trees reach maturity, they are cultivated to deliver consistent, high-yielding timber of exceptional quality.
Harvesting and Logyard Operations
Our value chain moves into its next critical phase: thinning and harvesting. Here, mature trees are carefully felled and processed in-field using precision techniques and advanced equipment.
Our highly skilled teams and contractors ensure safety, efficiency, and environmental care throughout the process. Once felled, logs are transported to our log yards, where they are sorted and graded before entering production — ready to become pine timber products our customers rely on.
Processing of Timber Products
Our value chain continues as selected logs move from the log yard into our manufacturing facility. Here, pine logs are cut with precision using sawmilling technology to optimise yield and maintain consistency.
Every step — from cutting to final grading — follows strict quality specifications to ensure dimensional accuracy and exceptional finish.
It’s this seamless integration across our value chain that guarantees the reliability and quality our customers have come to expect.
